Save Sir Asher Fluffington: Urgent Medical Help
Donation protected
On March 10th, we discovered our sweet Sir Asher Fluffington has Evan's syndrome, two autoimmune blood diseases that are attacking his platelets and red blood cells. The doctors immediately started him on steroids and immunosuppressants, but his numbers continued to drop. On day 2, they gave him a chemotherapy injection, which helped boost his platelets, but his red blood cells continued to drop, and his bilirubin skyrocketed, making him extremely jaundiced.
On day 3, his numbers continued to decline, and the doctor decided he needed a blood transfusion. It did help his red blood cells a little bit, but on day 4, his bilirubin continued to climb, and he stopped eating.
Day 5 (March 14th), the doctor said he doesn't even want to get up and move around anymore. There is one more treatment they can do, but he would have to be moved to a specialist in Salt Lake, and the starting cost would be about $10,000. It's called Therapeutic Plasma Exchange (TPE), also known as plasmapheresis, a procedure that removes and replaces plasma in dogs to treat conditions like autoimmune diseases or toxins by removing harmful components and replacing them with healthy ones. We have already spent at least $8,000 on his current hospital stay and are running out of funds fast. We find ourselves in the position of needing to find the money for this procedure or make the choice to euthanize our sweet Asher Dasher.
He will be 5 on March 18th, much too young to be going through something like this.
I know most people will say he is just a dog, but he is more than that to his family. He is my cuddle buddy, our guard dog, our friend, and my emotional support pal who helps me with my severe depression every day. He helped me through the loss of both my dad and brother to cancer in the last 5 years. He is our family, and I want to do everything I can to get him through this. I just need some help to do that. Also our Venmo is Julie-Hill-149 If you are able to give anything at all, we would be so grateful. Thank you!
