Save Simon: A Kitten's Battle with FIP

Hi all, this little kitten’s name is Simon. He’s newly adopted when my sister and I fell in love with him while volunteering at a kitten rescue near our college. He adjusted so well to my home and used to be so playful and energetic when all of a sudden he began getting really sleepy and then couldn’t walk. We rushed him to the vet where they misdiagnosed him with rabies even though he is only 5 months old and hasn’t been exposed to it in the rescue, so they told us that there was nothing they could do for us, to just wait a couple of days until he needs to be brought in again to be put to sleep. This broke our hearts but we also knew that it didn’t make sense and he seemed sick. We then took him to a pet hospital where they suspected it was FIP. So we then immediately ordered the treatment as well as took a bloodwork panel to confirm this diagnosis. Currently, Simon is on day 4 of his medication and he seems to be making small improvements. We have high hopes for him and I’m willing to do everything I can for him. With that being said, I’m a college student and I understand that he will need a lot more treatment since this is a long process ahead of us. From the vet bills to the cost of the medication, I’m extremely worried that I won’t be able to pay it. I may need to switch to a more affordable treatment for him but he just began the treatment and I’m unsure if that’s smart to do.
