Hi everyone! My name is Ryan Burke, and I’m raising money for a cause that means a lot to me. Friends of Save Shoebill Conservation Project does incredible work, and we've been working hard to help our partners in Uganda, the Save the Shoebill Conservation Project. We recently raised $10,000 to acquire two acres of land as a start to a Shoebill sanctuary (along with many other birds and species)
This next $5,000 will go to building a small building on this land which will allow SSCP to educate and train the locals on conservation and responsible tourism efforts. After this is constructed, we will continue to acquire additional land, forming a new and lasting conservation area in Uganda to help ensure the Shoebill survives and thrives!
There are currently three main areas in Uganda which house the Shoebill Stork. Mabamba Bay Wetlands, Murchison Falls National Park, and Mburo National Park. The firs two are well established and houses the highest population of Shoebills in Uganda, where our efforts here are focused on Mburo National Park to establish and increase the habitat to allow the Shoebill to thrive!
Your attention, sharing, and donations to this cause are truly invaluable, helping not only the Shoebill and many other species, but also the locals of Uganda by providing infrastructure and tourism revenue.
Friends of Save Shoebill Conservation Project is a US-based 501 c 3 nonprofit, allowing US-based donors to receive the tax benefits from these donations. 100% of the proceeds from this campaign are forwarded to our partners in Uganda, and the progress can be seen on our website and social media pages!
