Save Sheyegirl Coffee Co.: A New Beginning

Hello!

My name is Sheyenne and I am the owner/operator of a retro coffee shop located just outside of Nashville named Sheyegirl Coffee Co. The shop was created out of my intense love for high-quality coffee, all things vintage, and wanting to make a space where all are welcome to step back in time to forget the crazy world for a spell. We sell vintage clothes, merchandise, coffee, tea, treats, sandwiches, mocktails and adaptogens! We have retro sitting rooms where people can sit back and relax in such as our recreated 1950's kitchen and our 1940's living room. We use our own blends of all organic/all natural coffee roasts. Our lattes are handcrafted and made when ordered using all natural ingredients only... NO PUMP SYRUPS. We basically are baking your latte and you can taste the difference. It also makes things very customizable when you don't want something so sweet. So when you ask for a White Mocha here you get real white chocolate! We have been told that we are the coolest coffee shop and some of the best coffee around.

Our doors opened in the small downtown strip in Ashland City, TN in April 2016. Ever since, we have housed hundreds of intimate concerts, writer's nights, vintage movie nights, live jazz music, paint and sips, game nights, and more! My customers have become family, and this is truly a safe place for all to enjoy, create, work, read, or just grab a cup of high-quality coffee. Through the years, we have gotten through many challenges, including Covid, inflation, and construction/parking challenges. Unfortunately, on June 30th, I received a notice that would rock the community and my world. My employee got a letter that stated our lease would not be renewed and that we would have to vacate the premises in 60 days. There was no reason given other than they are going in a different direction. We have to be out by August 31st, and I have looked far and wide for a location that might be more affordable for me to be able to set up without asking for help, but alas, there really isn't anything.

I have been looking for a place since I received the notice, and I am still left with things up in the air. I have decided to put all of the shop's things in a couple of large storage units for the next 2 months and hope to raise some funds to be able to help with a new location. The location that would be a best fit for us would be in areas that are with a higher monthly rent, but know that with the extra financial help we could make this new location flourish even more than at the location we are having to move from as there were always SO many challenges. I am hoping that this is the push we needed to bring us to a better situation, and with your help, we CAN do it!

We have created such a community within the shop and have helped to give a stage to so many creators, original music artists, and the like! I would love to continue to be a space for the arts, creators, and the open-minded, open-hearted thinkers to continue to grace. It is so important for spots like this to exist for the community, and I would love to continue to work to make it happen!
