Save San Francisco Girls' School!

A good school is hard to find. Here at SFGS, we strive to create an environment where students feel like they belong and can strive to their potential. Recently, the Board of the School let the community know that there might not be enough funding for the school for the 2023/2024 school year and that current students should start to look for other schools. We were all devastated by this unexpected news and felt helpless. =’( Nevertheless our dedicated community of students, teachers, administrators, and families is coming together to raise funds for the school to remain open.

This school is a very tight-knit community, where it’s like a home away from home for many of our students. Every person that is a part of the community agrees that this is a special place where students who were falling behind before in other schools are thriving here.

Ways that we feel that SFGS are special:
  • an inclusive diverse school providing excellent STEM education and leadership skills to students from all classes and backgrounds
  • provides financial aid for 68% of its students
  • provides instruction and advancement on an individual basis, that allows students to progress at a pace that is comfortable but challenging
  • relies on mastery of the subjects which allows students to show that they understand the material through various expressions and interpretations of their knowledge

“I can tell you what made SFGS stand out and what made it great for me. Authenticity —a quality so bright and rare that you know it when you see it. It is something you just cannot fake. What attracted me to SFGS is that it’s a school where students build each other up and another person’s success does not undermine your own. It places students' overall well-being above all else and recognizes that achievement is not the most important thing; instead, integrity, making mistakes, enthusiasm, determination, and courage are.” - Anastacia Moreno, Class of 2026.

“What attracted me to SFGS was that it’s STEM-based and offered interdisciplinary courses. I like the hands-on projects and the equipment that was available such as 3D printers and the laser cutter. I was excited about building something new.” - Azucena Martinez, Founding Class.

This is a shared project, where our students are taking an active role and ownership in shaping what this school is becoming. We want to continue to allow them to do this. Please help us to support these students by giving any amount. No amount is too small.

These donations will be used to support our financially assisted students at SFGS. If we do not manage to raise enough funding to save the school, then the funds will be used to support the financially-assisted students with their tuition elsewhere.

Thank you!
