Flooding in Cornwall is no suprise to anyone but when it devastates your small family run business that you've been working hard to create it turns your life upside down.
Wayne has dedicated 4 years of his life building his Segway business and it has all been taken away after just one day of heavy rain.
Heavy rain on 26th Oct caused the storage container to flood, leaving the segways under a foot of water. This caused severe damage to the batteries and delicate electronic systems making the segways completely unusable.
The approximate cost of damages is £30,000 and to add a further blow, the insurance company will not pay out any money. Despite paying a large amount of money for insurance over the last 4 years, it turns out the policy does not cover any kind of flood damage.
The huge financial loss from this set back means we need to reach out for support. To you, our wonderful clients and our dear friends and family, to get us back on track, literally.
The business is run solely by Wayne and is the main source of income for our family. As Segway Bude is mainly seasonal, winter can be tough at the best of times. The added financial strain of having to repair and replace the segways could prove extremely difficult for us. However, we cannot possibly imagine having to close Segway Bude down, therefore we are prepared to try everything that can potentially help us save it.
This is not something we would normally do, but we are determined to not be beaten by the unfortunate recent events and to keep this unique and popular local business, which is at the same time our whole livelihood, open. Thank you all so much for your ongoing support. ❤️
