Save Scotty's Home & Rally Around His Family
Donation protected

He is a father, husband, brother and friend.
My name is Joseph Harrell, and I initiated a $2500.00 go fund me campaign on behalf of Scotty Chamberlain and his family. Thanks to all of the recent support, we have decided to increase the goal to $3000.00. We are almost there in less than two days. Scotty and I served together in the Marine Corps. We served together with many other Marines at VMA-211 in Yuma Arizona. I have known Scotty for 16 years. All proceeds raised during this campaign will be given directly to Scotty and his family. Other team members who have already pledged to support this campaign are Keith Hubenak, Raul Colon, Mike Galaz, Patrick Higgins and Edward Benard. Please read below and join the campaign.

Scotty needs our help.
Please help Scotty rebuild his home.
Let us work together this holiday season and make his home a safe, warm, and nurturing place to be once again.
In November of 2017, Scotty's house flooded due to a slab leak. Scotty, his wife Desiree and daughter Alina were away at the time, and the house sat flooded for 3 days. The flood destroyed the kitchen, living area, and garage. Initially their insurance company denied covering the claim, so they hired a public adjuster and began processing the claim. During this time, Scotty and his family spent Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years in various motels as the insurance company kept moving them around. They moved 7 times in 8 months.
The contractor working to repair their house moved very slowly, and as a result the insurance company notified them that the insurance coverage ran out. With no more money coming in from the insurance company, Scotty and his family had no choice but to move back into a totally gutted home with exposed gas and electrical lines everywhere. Their public adjuster was unable to help with anything, so they retained an attorney. As soon as the attorney got involved the public adjuster quit. Scotty has not heard from the adjustor in six months.
The HAZMAT company hired to remove the black mold and sheetrock came out to dispose of the water damaged material. During the removal, the contractor hired to remove the rubble did not bag all of the black mold infested items. As a result, much of the contaminated material ended up in the living room and den during the removal. It was a mountain of rubble. (See Photos)

This issue destroyed what was left in those areas. Scotty currently has a claim submitted for this. After the mess was finally cleaned up, they hired a contractor with their own money in hopes the claim check from the insurance company would arrive.
The contractor finally put up the new drywall for $5800, but he took off before painting it, or finishing the remainder of work. The reason for the contractor leaving was due to the lack of claim check being delivered. A check was then released to the mortgage company pending the contractor turning in his documentation for release of funds. By the time the contractor turned in his documentation, the check expired and the lender held onto the check. The contractor did not return, so Scotty hired another contractor. The new contractor turned in all his documentation right away and has hung most of the cabinets. The bank representative said “the check was on its way,” but it still has not come.
After several months of an ongoing battle to repair Scotty's home, California suffered some of its worst fire damage in history. All of Ventura County was on fire including Simi Valley where Scotty and his family live. Due to thousands of fire claims, the entire loss protection department was revamped. The agent on Scotty's case was reassigned, and the file and check are nowhere to be found.
Scotty has sent invoices to the loss protection department three times, and they still have no record of showing it. They can't even get a call through to the mortgage company because of the massive amount of damage claims pouring in. The house continues to sit without a kitchen or living area. They can’t move because they can’t sell the house in its condition.

Over the last 14 months, Scotty, Desiree and Alina have experienced disappointment at every turn. The mortgage company, the insurance company, the contractors, the adjustors, and the attorney have let Scotty and his family down.
I won't get too personal with what Scott and I talked about last night, but this has taken a toll on his family. Scotty is a very prideful man. He is a "never need anyone’s help" kind of Marine. He is the one who always helps others. He helped me more than once, and now we need to help Scotty. He needs to be lifted up and carried for a short distance.
Please donate what you can. Together we can pull them up to get past this hurdle. Let us restore the Chamberlain’s faith in humanity, and make their home a home again before Christmas.
