Scott Roth, our friend and co-worker was suddenly hospitalized on August 25th for an undiagnosed illness causing swelling on the brain, high fever, some paralysis and he is unresponsive. He has been in the hospital for over 2 weeks and has been transferred to a long term care facility. The CDC suspects that he was bitten by either a mosquito or a tick but has no confirmed diagnosis. so far he is not responding to any medication. Please help Scott, any donations would be greatly appreciated and will be used toward any un paid medical and personal expenses.
***Update: Scott has been diagnosed with the Powassan virus! It is tick born and the department of health suspects the infected ticks are in Hampton NJ in the Bear Swamp area and are currently looking into other Sussex County towns. So far there is no known medical treatment for this particular disease. Unfortunately Scotts condition has not changed, he is still unresponsive. He is currently in a long term care facility! We thank you all for your generous donations, they will be put to good use!
