Save Sargie's Legs
Donation protected
Hi,
My name is Madi and I am fundraising for my beautiful 2-year-old Staffy - Sargie's therapy and mobility aids, post a catastrophic injury.
On Monday 24th of April, Sargie lost all function and feeling in her back, her legs and tail.
Sargie became unable to walk, toilet or stand and lost total independence.
Sargie was transported to an emergency vet with Spinal Specialists who were determined to do the best they could for her.
During surgery they deemed that Sargie's disc had shot out into her spinal cord, causing severe and rapid damage.
The injury resulted in a loss of deep-pressure pain, leaving Sargie in need of some serious therapy!
Sargie's surgeons removed the disc matter and allowed room for her spinal cord to swell, in the hopes that it would not degrade and she would make it through.
Due to the severity of Sargie's injury, she remained in the hospital, being monitored for any signs of an irreversible and unsurvivable condition.
Sargie has come out of the surgery with her life intact, however, this is where the hard part starts.
Sargie is now on crate rest, taking medications to manage her pain and swelling, and is set to begin intensive therapy to save her mobility.
Sargie currently has a 50% chance of returning to normal function, however with the urgent introduction of Hydrotherapy, Physiotherapy and dry needling, Sargie's chances will increase and she will regain her independence.
I am fundraising to support the therapy and mobility aids, which are not covered by her Pet Insurance - so that Sargie can live a life worth living.
Sargie is one of the most loving and happy dogs, and she truly is my reason to get up every day.
So if you can, please lend a hand to Sargie's recovery fund and share around so we can save Sargie's legs, her mobility, her independence and her life.
