Family and friends, please share and support if you are able. Every little bit will make a difference
This is a fundraiser for our friend, Sammi Boyd. We understand times are difficult for so many of us right now, so any support would be greatly appreciated.
Anyone who knows Sammi, knows she is the absolute last person to ask for help. The last person to even admit she needs help. Which is why we are doing it on her behalf.
Over the last few months, Sammi has been experiencing chronic back pain. It alternates between pain or complete loss of feeling in her legs. She has been diagnosed with degenerative disk disease-and after all the tests and scans, they have found that her spinal cord is being compressed.
After meeting with a top surgeon, Sammi was told that she required immediate surgical intervention and that not having the surgery will eventually lead to paralysis.
Although Sammi has paid for top medical insurance for years, after much debate, they have declined to cover her surgery. And yes, she has tried EVERYTHING to get their co-operation. It’s infuriating, but it’s not going to happen with their assistance.
Sammi has also tried to access some of her super to cover the cost of surgery-this was also declined.
To make matters worse, Sammi’s workplace has now decided to put her on leave without pay-effective immediately.
This has left Sammi in a very difficult financial position. Having to maintain a mortgage and all the bills associated that don’t stop coming-PLUS trying to save enough money to pay for the surgery she now desperately needs, has all become impossible.
Sammi is both physically and mentally drained, with the stress of juggling everything and getting nowhere, on top of the daily chronic pain and numbness its quite honestly become too much.
Anyone who knows Sammi, knows she would quite literally give you the shirt of her back, if you needed it. Sammi has, does and will continue to pay it forward whenever she is able.
But right now, Sammi needs this surgery. Without it, she will experience paralysis. Without it, she can’t begin to heal, so that she is able to get back to work.
Without it, she will lose everything she has worked so hard to achieve.
If you are able to donate any amount to support Sammi’s journey, it would be received with more gratitude than you could possibly imagine.
Our hope is that her tribe, family, friends, colleagues and community will rally around her during this time of need-so that she can comeback stronger than ever.
Thank you if you have taken the time to read this far. Thank you if you are able to donate. Thank you for sharing Sammi’s story with your own circle. Thank you for your compassion and understanding.
