My name is Amie Lewis and I run a dog rescue in Amarillo Texas.
I am raising funds today to cover attorney’s fees, testing fees ( behavioral test and rabies), boarding fees and vet bills. THANKFULLY, one of the top Animal Right’s Attorneys in the USA has agreed to take on the case. As this is of an urgent nature, please (please) donate now and share Sam’s story FAR AND WIDE. We are hoping to raise $10,000.00 by Monday.
The County Animal Control is threatening to euthanize Sam for a bite (if he doesn't pass behavioral) that occurred in his own home and no one, not even his family, wants to see this happen. Sams adopted parents love him so much but he is the dads baby boy ❤️
For 21 years, I have tried to move heaven and earth to rescue dogs, some that no one wanted like some very elderly and special needs, some who had suffered abuse, but ALL who were adopted went into loving homes, and many families adopted multiple times from our rescue.
The incident that occurred was with one of our most special needs pup, Sam, who was born with a deformed right front arm. Adopted by a family in Illinois, Despite this handicap, sweet Sam steals everyone’s hearts whom he meets.
On Sunday (2/23) Sam attacked another dog in the home who is receiving vet care and and as of 3/1, is struggling due to his tongue bite and pneumonia. We are praying he recovers. As with all of our clients, contracts are put in place which stipulate that if, for any reason, they decide to give the adopted dog up, it has to come back to us. In this particular case, a verbal-only contract was in place. His rabies certificate expired two weeks prior to the incident and that adds a layer of complication.
Sam is receiving vet care currently and is scheduled to go to an Illinois-based Animal Control for rabies observation and behavioral testing. They want to keep Sam in the state of Illinois if he passes, and we want to bring Sam back here to our Texas-based rescue and take care of him for the rest of his life – that is what he deserves – he is a love bug. Sams family is being pressured to surrender him to the county.
Again the funds will be used immediately for attorney’s fees, vet bills, and testing fees. I will provide updates here and in our Community Page (Chloe’s Canines Dog Sanctuary ).
We are hopeful that justice will prevail but we desperately need everyone’s help. Please donate and share this link far and wide. Thank you for your generous response!
Ironically, I was planning to retire from Dog Rescue on April 1, 2025, after giving my best and my all to God’s precious creatures. Please help me bring justice for Sam, and let’s bring him back home to live happily ever after.
