Hello all! We are asking for help to treat our dog Rylie for bladder stones. As many know, we lost everything in a fire over a year ago. Rylie was the only animal of ours that survived, we lost all of our cats. It's been rough. Rylie recently had a UTI that we took her to the vet for. We did a course of antibiotics but noticed her still peeing a lot and a little blood in her urine. Dad took her to Cedar Vet today. They did xrays and found 2 very large bladder stones. Because the stones are so large, they require surgery to remove. Of course the stones are painful as well. Initially Cedar Vet said the surgery would be around $7000. Dad kept asking them to take things off that weren't necessary, including the test that tells us what kind of stones she has (that is actually very important but we can't afford any of this). Eventually he got them to cut the cost down to around 3200 3300. We don't have this amount at all. My parents are paying 2 mortgages since the fire (1 on the property we had the fire on and the new place were living). We are broke. I'm still waiting on my disability to go through, I'm currently appealing the initial denial with the help of a lawyer who will get paid only if and when we win. We plan to take Rylie to another vet for a second opinion, in the hopes that we can try managing the stones via diet changes and there are medications to try and dissolve them. But. As you can see from the xrays, they are huge stones. This will likely end in a decision between putting her down or surgery. We already got charged over 600 dollars for the visit today and all they did was basic blood work, an xray, and medicine (antibiotics and anti inflammatories) and that was money we did not have to spend. I know everyone is broke right now ...but the thought of putting our only animal that survived the fire down because we can't afford to treat her...is truly unbearable. Any help you can give means everything.
