Rye House Action Group needs £15,000 for legal advice and support costs for the Rye House Stadium Appeal, 21-23 October 2026. Please help us win the planning battle to try to bring speedway back to Rye House.

Why we are raising money

Rye House Stadium in Hoddesdon has been home to speedway since 1934. Today there is no racing at Rye House. The occupier of the Stadium has carried out building works and removed the speedway track without planning permission.

East Herts District Council served an Enforcement Notice. The occupier has appealed against it and the Appeal will be heard on 21-23 October 2026 in the East Herts District Council Chamber at Wallfields, Pegs Lane, Hertford, SG13 8EQ.

Our voice at the appeal

Rye House Action Group (RHAG) is the community group making the case for speedway at Rye House. Following our application to the Planning Inspectorate, the nature of the appeal has been changed and RHAG is now a Rule 6 Party. That means we can take full part in the appeal, presenting our own evidence, calling witnesses and questioning the other side's witnesses.

This is a very late change and the appeal is now less than a week away. To make the most of it we need a team to prepare and present our case.

What your money pays for

Our target is £15,000. It will pay for:

- advice from a planning barrister

- appeal attendance and support costs.

Every gift counts. £10, £50, £100, £500 or more. It’s all vital to our Campaign.

Why it matters

Once a speedway stadium is lost it is almost never replaced and few speedway venues remain in the United Kingdom. Winning this appeal is the first step to restoring the Stadium and bringing speedway racing back to Rye House for riders, supporters and the local community.

- £15,000 (100%) attendance and support costs for the appeal hearing

If we raise more or less than we need

Every penny raised goes to RHAG's costs for the Rye House Stadium appeals. Any money not needed for the appeals will be used for RHAG's continuing campaign to restore speedway at Rye House.
