Help Russom Escape Abuse and Find Safety

Hi, my name is Enki D. Snake. I am an online activist, artist, and social worker.

About a week ago, I came across a video showing an Eritrean refugee in Libya being abused by Libyan men. The victim in the video, was targeted because he is both a Christian and a refugee.

The video broke my heart.

As a Muslim, I cannot support violence against Christians, Jews, or people of any faith. Seeing this happen was deeply painful and disappointing, especially when those responsible claim to act in the name of Islam.

I decided to speak about the video on my Instagram page, @EnkidSnake. Many people who saw it were heartbroken as well. Some felt anger, others sadness, but almost everyone agreed that what happened was wrong.

Then something unexpected happened.

The man in the video found me.

His name is Russom, and he contacted me directly. He was able to prove that he is indeed the person shown in the footage.

After speaking with him, I decided to launch this fundraiser to help him find a safe way out of Libya and begin rebuilding his life.

To ensure transparency, all donations will be managed through the account of my association, Alkebulan. No funds will go to my personal account. Complete bookkeeping and documentation will be maintained, and we will keep donors informed throughout the process.

Once the fundraising goal is reached, we will transfer the funds to Russom through a secure method that has already been discussed with him. For his safety, I cannot share those details publicly at this time.

Transparency and accountability are extremely important to me. If, for any reason, we are unable to deliver the funds and achieve the intended purpose, I will work to ensure that donors are reimbursed.

The goal of this campaign is bigger than helping one person. It is about showing that humanity is stronger than hate.

In the Qur’an, it is written:

“Whoever saves one life, it is as if he has saved all of humanity.”
