Roger is a goofy, gentle pitbull mix with the kindest soul — and now he needs your help to survive.

We rescued Roger from Gary Animal Control knowing his time was running out. He’s not a senior, but he’s older, and those dogs often get overlooked. Still, we knew he was worth saving.

During his neuter surgery, we got heartbreaking news: Roger is heartworm positive.

Without treatment, heartworm disease is fatal. But treatment is expensive, and as a brand-new, foster-based rescue with no emergency fund, we simply don’t have the $1,000 it will cost to save him.

What Heartworm Treatment Looks Like:

Roger’s treatment will be done through one of our trusted veterinary partners, who has generously offered us a discounted rate of $1,000 to cover:

• Diagnostic testing

• Medications

• Injections

• Follow-up care

• Pain relief

• and prevention to protect him moving forward

Heartworm treatment is intense and risky. After receiving his injections, Roger will need to be kept calm and quiet for several months to avoid complications like blood clots or heart failure. This means no running, no rough play, and no excitement — just rest and gentle care while his body heals. It’s a long road, but he deserves to walk it with dignity and comfort.
