Save Rock Haven Lake

Dear Neighbors,
Our beloved Rock Haven Lake needs your support. The historically low water levels at the lake last summer encouraged a dedicated group of volunteers to take a closer look at the RHL Dam. They found that the old mill wheelhouse had deteriorated so much that there was now an uncontrollable water flow down river.
After working with the owners of the dam, the Tedeschi family, as well as the Maine DEP and MEMA, the best course of action was determined to save RHL and our volunteers got to work with the help of AJ Coleman, a professional contracting company.
Below is an outline of the major projects performed to repair the dam, which were completed on February 5:
· A cofferdam (a temporary structure built to divert water away from the dam to allow for construction) was built.
· Two locations were dewatered to keep the front of the dam as dry as possible.
· Two significant areas of decay were sealed with 4 feet of concrete to stop the uncontrollable water flow.
This resolved the diagnosed problem and a state-approved maintenance proposal has been put in place, as required for us to receive approval to perform these repairs in the first place.
The unexpected cost associated with having to bring in professional contractors has caused us to deplete our funds and we need your continued support to cover the remaining balance.
Our total expenses are $23,355.15. With a starting fund balance of $2,505.53 and an additional $11,835.00 in generous donations from 36 donors prior to starting this gofundme, we have an remaining balance of $9,014.62 we must raise to cover the cost of saving Rock Haven Lake.
