I'm raising funds to help Puppy Jack get radiation treatments. He had a growth removed on 7/11, and the lab results came back as soft tissue sarcoma. It took a month to get an appointment with Pieper's oncologist. She recommends radiation and put him on chemotherapy until he can get radiation.
If you've never had to get a veterinary radiation appointment, you're very lucky. There are a handful in the Northeast that do radiation, and 4/5 aren't accepting patients. We were very lucky to have a phone consultation this week with the radiation oncologist in Yonkers, NY. If Jack doesn't have radiation, the cancer will come back. 40% chance by 3 months and 80% within a year.
With radiation, dogs with this cancer have an 86% rate of no evidence of disease after 5 years. He needs 18 treatments (M-F), so 3.5 weeks.
We're also 1.5 hours away (without traffic). I have the ability to work remotely, and I'm not opposed to sleeping in my car or at a campground to save my boy's life.
Here's the hard part. The low estimate is $13,000, and the high estimate is $17,000. THEY REQUIRE FULL PAYMENT OF THE LOW ESTIMATE, IN ADVANCE, to schedule his treatments. They have room in the schedule in mid-September.
I'm heartbroken, and believe me, it is humbling to ask for help, but I have no other choice. Please help me save my best friend.
