Please help our puppy Pua and her fight with diabetes

Please help puppy Pua

We recently rescued precious puppy Pua. She came into our home a joyful playful puppy. Immediately loving her new animal family including dogs Koa, Lani Girl, Abbey Road and kitty Nala.
We are the Leong family.
Early on, Pua appeared to be thriving. But soon she plunged into dire straits.
We have stayed in touch with the people who gave homes to Pua’s litter-mates,
And as they reached 13-15 pounds, Pua had shrunk from 6 ½ pounds to 5 pounds.
It took quite a few veterinarian visits, and a few veterinarians to finally determine what was happening.
Through Dr. Lisa at Malibu Coast Animal Hospital, it was discovered little Pua has diabetes. A very serious condition in puppies, but one which, with diligent treatment, can afford the puppy a great life and many years as a healthy dog,
There was a minute where we thought we couldn’t do this, and also wondered if it was best for Pua for us to try. We knew immediately what this entailed because our son developed Type 1 diabetes at 6yrs old. We had to help her. This journey has become a daily routine of insulin injections, a very specific diet until her blood sugars are controlled, weekly/biweekly stays at the animal hospital and every other day IV fluids which we administer ourselves.
As many lovers of animals face, we are beset with a major challenge. It’s the cost.
Pua is going to need insulin for the rest if her life. The ongoing vet visits, the medication and the very costly food.
We are already madly in love with her, and she with us.
But we need help.
We are more than aware that there are an unthinkable number of animals who need our help,
And loving people who need help helping these animals.
We have been involved in bringing relief to this cause in myriad ways our whole lives.
Now it’s our turn to ask for help making Pua’s continued healthcare possible.
So we are starting a campaign, and we will offer everything we can, including consulting with other families facing diabetes in the changing (but not changing fast enough) world of this condition.
If there is anyone out there for whom helping Pua is not a hardship in the slightest, please do what you can. Every little bit helps.
Pua is 15 weeks old.
Your assistance will go toward her supplies ~
Vet monitoring
Insulin & Syringes
Fluid Bags & IV Needles
The special food, the only type her system can handle at this time.
Our family cannot thank you enough for taking the time to read our story. Our pets are our family and our hearts are breaking.
