Save Princess: Aid for a Beloved Alzheimer’s Support Animal

Donation protected
Update: 2/28/25: Princess passed away at about 3:45. She went into sudden cardiac arrest from the extensive wounds she sustained from the attack. The vets tried to perform CPR but her little body couldn’t fight anymore. My mom is confused of where her baby is and my dad is devastated and can only see the incident when he closes his eyes and remembers just screaming “no, please, no!”
My heart is shattered knowing how much the sweetest little girl suffered.

All the funds made in this fundraiser will go toward paying ACCESS Animal Hospital for princess care which totaled to $19,974.40

Thank you for your prayers, love, and support. Please pray for her little soul and for my family. She was my mom’s sunshine in her dark days.

In 2020 my mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. The road since has been heartbreaking to say the least. From the first stage of her disease till now, one constant has been her companion and support animal, Princess, a 12 pound chihuahua rescue. Princess accompanies my mom everyday giving her endless love, support, and motivation to keep pressing forward. My mom remembers very little now days, but Princess never leaves her mind.

On Wednesday morning, my mom and her caretaker walked out of the house to go on the first of their two daily walks with Princess and her rescue brother Winston. In an instant, the neighbors 100 pound Rottweiler broke out of their metal gate and charged at Princess. My mom screamed and tried to pry Princess from the other dog’s jaw as her caretaker bravely screamed and tried to help. My 75 year old dad came running out and fighting to get Princess free as the Rottweiler continued to shake her and tear into her. My dad fell onto the pavement trying desperately to save Princess. Finally, after the Rottweiler dragged princes into their backyard my dad was able to get the dog to release Princess. My mom and her caretaker grabbed her and ran into out family home as the other dog still persisted after them.

Princess was rushed immediately to Access Animal Hospital in Torrance California. She arrived in critical condition with extensive blood loss, a broken jaw, internal bruising, a pneumothorax, and severe soft tissue damage. She went into surgery last night to remove the broken front part of her lower jaw, suture her kidney back into place, repair as much of the wounds as possible, and more. She still remains in critical condition. My parents and my mom’s caretaker are physically okay. My dad sustained a left knee contusion.
My mom was in shock, covered in blood immediately anfter the incident. Since then she has had significantly worse memory impairment due to the trauma.
She calls for her companion Princess not understanding she is in intensive care from her brutal attack. Princess is family and so much more to us and especially my mom. She is still fighting and if she is able to pull through the next few days the vets anticipate her to have a full life, despite a challenging recovery.
the cost of her vet care has been significant and unexpected, on top of the care my mom requires. We are hoping to raise funds to cover some of the cost of her care as the Rottweilers owners say they cannot afford it.

Please feel free to donate via Venmo or Zelle if you’re more comfortable. Also, if you would like any copies of receipts or updates..
