Save Prime: Urgent Vet Funds Needed

Hello I’m Zaria, please listen to my story! I’m a pet sitter and a struggling pet parent looking for help to take my 13-year-old senior dog (Prime) to the vet. I recently was in a situation where I had to rely on a “friend” to help me watch my dog. I gave her the complete rundown of how to take care of him, how to feed him, and his personality. I had to travel back home for work and I wasn’t able to bring my dog along with me on the plane because he’s not an Service animal, and commercial flights didn’t take large dogs as cargo anymore, so I came up with a plan and made an agreement with my friend’s father that I was going to get something arranged to have my dog be picked up in two weeks. I got back on the 13th home and instantly got to work because after copious amounts of research I’ve come to learn how extremely expensive pet transport can be. I ended up going through many trails and tribulations before finding the right people in my budget to get him. The original plan was for him to be picked up on the 29th of December from San Antonio, Texas to be in transit to Mobile, Alabama and Id to a turn around trip from Atlanta, Georgia to go pick him up (basically all day on the road). To make sure everything went smoothly with his pick up I gave the handlers the contact of the girl who was watching him and the night of confirmation for his pick up which was the 28th I’m trying to get payment through, but my handlers wanted to talk to Me about my pet and my schedule trip. I later come to learn from my handler that the friend that I had watching him told them that he had bedsores and open wounds and he was in pretty bad shape and they weren’t comfortable in picking him up on the agreed date due to his open wounds because they believed it wouldn’t be safe for him. I didn’t even know what she was talking about! This is my first time really hearing information about this, but I’m hearing it from my handlers. They suggested picking him up on January 4 so when they get him, they’ll just head straight to my selected location without having any other stops so he can get to me faster due to his condition. Now my plans were completely sabotage and I was receiving threats that the people that he were staying with were gonna put him out, because my plans weren’t legit, and I had to beg them not to. Even though this delay in plans was caused by what my friend had said about my dog she was saying that she couldn’t stay to watch my dog, and if she was to say to watch him, I have to pay her and an extra $100 for her. I didn’t really wanna pay her because the whole delay was caused by her in the first place and it didn’t make sense for me to pay for her mistake but I agreed to it in the moment because my dogs well-being wasn’t safe. To cut some time in the story on his day of pick up my sitter gave my handler my dogs refrigerated food, only tied up in a plastic bag because they refuse to take my money for them to go pick up a proper container to put his food in for when he’s on the road “ because they have their own lives”. I received photos from the handler in which you can see that he has a little redness of a wound on his armpit. When it was finally to time for me to pick up my dog he was visibly in bad shape! He was skinny and dirty, and he did in fact have an open wound on his armpit larger than a quarter. My handler gave me his food that was only in a Ziploc bag, which means his food went bad on the road so he didn’t have proper food for his two day trip. My dog came back and was in extremely bad shape. He wasn’t like himself anymore for the first week that he was back with me he didn’t wanna eat, he didn’t wanna move, he didn’t wanna do anything and the open wound that he returned to me with, that I was trying to tend to only kept getting bigger and bigger and at the time I wasn’t properly educated on what pressure sores were, but I later come to learn that the condition that I received him in was already the the stage in which you’re supposed to prevent from happening. His skin had already ulcerated by the time I had gotten him and his leg basically rotting! Due to my situation, I am unable to afford to take him to the vet to get this checked out, and I can’t even afford to go with the less desirable option of putting him down because I can’t afford to so now my dog is just suffering and rotting alive and I sent a photo to the girl that was watching him and she’s denied his injuries and try to say that he never had that wound in the first place and I’m just “trying to convince myself” that this neglect happened their care and not mine and they’re gonna need some convincing on if it’s the truth, and they’re still asking me to pay them for their “care”. I am in a complete bind right now and watching my dog suffer is causing me to suffer because I am completely unable to do anything. I’m unable to ask anybody for money and I can’t freelance fast enough to make a vet bill so I was racking my brain on how I can raise money for my baby and then I thought of this. This is my first time making a GoFundMe and I’m extremely desperate any amount of help would be enough help to try to get my baby to the vet as quick as possible. Everyone keeps telling me he’s an old dog things like this are going to happen, but my dog has been through every trial and tribulation with me and for everyone who knows him knows that he is so strong, and his age is only a number. It would devastate me to lose my dog because of the mishandling of the people who said they were watching him for my well-being. Thank you for listening to my story it’s a bit long, but I wanted to make sure no detail was missed. I’m so grateful to those who want to help. Donate for this cause!
