One of three minority ran Posts in the entire state of CT struggling for survival in this coronavirus era. Col Charles Young, a distinguished African American officer who graduated from West Point in 1889 was used to name this wonderful post and is now in big trouble. We are looking for a big ask from those that support Black Lives Matter to include black veterans.
It's tough to have a place that can truly say it represents your culture. Having a minority ran organization helps to heal those returning from warzones and can make us truly feel that we are around those with similar circumstances and can relate to our lives. There are many posts in CT but there are only 3 minority posts and only 2 with physical buildings where we meet and interact. A lot of our members are older and can not travel far so losing our post would truly be detrimental for them that depend on the comradery for stability. Being able to look after these vets are our #1 priority, but we need your help.
We have lots of leadership in the military that try to combat discrimination but unfortunately, it still exists. We didn't start in a good place but we are headed in the right direction. The new leadership at this post believes that ALL veteran lives matter within our post and neighborhood but we do need to in. But black veterans are suffering more than most so we need to support our Black Veterans.

The American Legion Post 140 has existed at the current location since 1955 and the mission is to help veterans, veterans families, and general public support and get support from like-minded veterans. Our Post has been hit hard by the Coronavirus, and we’re looking to our community for help.
