Pooh and Friends Learning Center, in Somerville, MA, needs your help to survive the financial impact of COVID-19. #smallbusinessrelief
Nicholas Snow and Flavia Silva are organizing this fundraiser to aid Pooh and Friends Learning Center.
Flavia Silva is the beneficiary for this campaign, and has set up the business's account in order to make withdrawals and have the funds go directly to Pooh and Friends Learning Center's business account. All funds will be spent on the items noted below, and we'll be updating you each time we withdraw on what specifically that withdrawal helped pay for!
Nick Snow: I am a parent of 2 children who have attended Pooh and Friends (1 current student and 1 graduate). My motivation for launching this fundraiser comes down to one word: love. The staff of Pooh and Friends provide exceptionally warm, attentive care and teaching for infants, toddlers and pre-schoolers. My children have truly loved their teachers - shout outs to Ms. Flavia, Ms. Karla, Ms. Valentina, Ms. Vera, Ms. Rita, Ms. Ama, Ms. Katie, Ms. Stephanie, Ms. G, Ms. Jessica, Ms. Linda, Ms. Evelyn, and Ms. Julia!
These women have nurtured countless children in the Somerville-Cambridge-Medford area, often for 8+ hours a day during pre-COVID times. For myself and many parents of Pooh and Friends kids, the staff feel like part of the extended family. With students unable to attend, and with many parents’ employment situations in flux, Pooh and Friends is in a dire financial position. I and many others are deeply concerned for each of the Pooh and Friends teachers, and for the future of this locally-owned small business.
I humbly ask for you, member of the extended Pooh and Friends community, to help keep this beloved early education center afloat during these challenging times.
Our starting goal for this fundraiser – $15,000 – represents only part of Pooh and Friends’ expenses for the months of May and June. The COVID-19 crisis has disrupted life in many ways, but bills unfortunately still need to be paid.
Your donations will go towards operating expenses normally covered by tuition:
Pooh and Friends needs to take care of its loving teachers so that the center can reopen when it is safe to do so. Other key needs include staying up to date with rent, insurance, and utilities.
Ms. Flavia is working with the City of Somerville’s Economic Development office and others to explore available financial help for small businesses. The timing of federal government assistance is muddy at best, but you can help make a difference TODAY!
Thank you all in advance for your kind contribution of any amount. Every dollar counts! Please help us spread the word and share with your family, friends, neighbors, etc. who might be able to contribute as well.
