Save Pickle Juice: Help with Emergency Surgery
Donation protected
Update: We went through with Pickle Juice’s emergency surgery, because of the high risk of him obstructing again and possibly needing to be hospitalized again they recommended a PU/perineal urethrostomy to avoid recurrence. Meaning they had to cut his penis off and pretty much make him look like a girl, this was to widen the urethra and help him lower the chances of having a urinary obstruction. After being in critical condition and almost loosing him he is doing much better. He is receiving pain meds and IV fluids daily. We still need the support of helping pay his medical expenses. Thank you to all those that have shared and donated.
Hello, my name is Maria Garay. I am reaching out to my family, friends, and community for help with the medical expenses for my cat, Pickle Juice. Pickle Juice was once a stray cat that I rescued as a kitten about three years ago from a clinic that I worked at. He’s been with us since and is a great, loving, cuddling cat; my kids adore him.
Unfortunately, he had been showing signs of being ill these last couple of days, so we had to take him to the emergency vet where they gave us the unfortunate news of him having a urinary blockage. Our options were emergency surgery or euthanasia. We could not go through with euthanasia knowing that we could save him and knowing the deep regret we would feel not trying everything we could to save him, also how painful it would be to our children. I know this may be hard to understand why we chose to save him if you’ve never gone through something like this, and it may be difficult for some people to donate given that we have just gone through the holidays. We are all in a tight situation, but I am reaching out in hope that we could get some sort of relief and help from the community. Any help that you can give, whether it’s $1, $5, $100, etc., will mean the world. The surgery was quoted around $4000. We hope we can save him and bring him home to his family.
Thank you so much!
