Hi!

My name is Petra, and I was recently diagnosed with High Grade DCIS, which stands for Ductal Carcinoma In Situ, also know as Stage 0 Breast Cancer, with a tumour of 9x6x5cm. The treatment offered to me for this was a full mastectomy and radiotherapy. The first words out of my mouth to my consultant were, 'I'm not having surgery, I'll treat this naturally'. But then with a lot of persuasion from my specialist, and family and friends, I agreed to the surgery. I was offered reconstruction using tissue from my belly, so essentially I would be getting a boob job and the tummy tuck I'd always dreamed of, free of charge!

I had never heard of this condition before, and the treatment seemed very drastic, so I decided to do some research and find out exactly what I was dealing with. I read up on it, watched a lot of documentaries and joined several groups, speaking to a lot of women, mostly with DCIS and some with Stage 1-4 invasive cancer, and it really opened my eyes. Some of these women had opted for surgery, which often seemed to have complications leading to more surgery, and some had opted for alternative treatments. I found that a lot of the women who had opted to change their diet & lifestyle, and try the alternative treatments, were shrinking their tumours successfully and becoming cancer free.

After a lot of soul searching and many hours of meditation, my intuition was telling me very clearly that I should try and go down the alternative route in the hope of saving my boob - I've become very attached to it over the years!

This involves starving the cancer cells, (cancer feeds on sugar and thrives in an acidic environment), by switching to a ketogenic diet (high quality protein/high fat, no sugar or carbs or processed foods - a big change as I haven't eaten meat for over 3 years and a die hard sugarholic!), and drinking alkaline water. this will hopefully stop the tumour growing, (currently 9x6x5cm and counting!), and by using various alternative treatment protocols I hope to heal it completely. I have already changed my diet and started one of the alternative treatments, but I cant afford to buy the rest of the elements of the protocol.

This fundraiser will allow me to do this properly, and stand a fighting chance. Some of the treatments and supplements are expensive, as is organic meat and vegetables, and on my own I don't have a hope of doing this. I figured if everyone I know chucked in a couple of quid, it wouldn't impact on your pockets much, but will make a big difference to what I can afford to try. I have no idea how long this will take or how much it will cost, but I had to put a figure in the box. I am massively grateful for anything that anyone can spare, even if it just a few pennies.
