It is with deep sadness that we must share difficult news with our community.
After many efforts and discussions, we and the landlord have mutually agreed that we must leave and move out of the location that has been home to Persian Gulf Restaurant & Museum.
Unfortunately, the building requires extensive repairs that we, as tenants, are unable to perform. Without those major repairs, the space can no longer operate as a restaurant or museum.
This place was never just a restaurant.
Persian Gulf has been a cultural treasure—a living museum of history, art, heritage, and community. It has served as a bridge between the United States and the Middle East, a place where generations gathered, stories were shared, friendships were formed, and culture was preserved. It has also honored the sacrifices of Persian Gulf War veterans while educating visitors about the rich history of the Persian Gulf region.
Leaving this location breaks our hearts.
The devastating electrical fire on April 23 caused major damage to the building and ultimately led to the difficult reality we now face. While insurance may cover only a small portion of the losses, many expenses remain uncovered, including legal fees, insurance deductibles, relocation costs, and the significant investment required to rebuild and reopen.
But Our Mission Lives On
Despite this heartbreaking setback, we refuse to let Persian Gulf Museum disappear.
With hope, determination, and the support of our community, we are committed to rebuilding Persian Gulf Museum in a new and better home where it can continue serving future generations.
At the same time, we remain dedicated to preserving Delphi Greek Restaurant & Bar and Mary & Robbs Westwood Café—two beloved Westwood institutions that have served our community for decades. Together, these establishments represent the cultural diversity, hospitality, history, and resilience that make Westwood such a special place.
These are not simply businesses.
They are community gathering places. They are part of Westwood's story. They are places where students, families, neighbors, veterans, and visitors from around the world have come together for generations.
