Aunt Pauline’s journey living with cancer is a tragic story, and just one of many because of Covid, but mostly because of the Canadian health care system. Something that could have been cured, with timely intervention, instead spiralled into a complicated set of events that has now turned dire. After enduring 5 painful surgeries and a full course of radiation -- for what could have been cured -- she finally thought she won the battle. She did not. (Please click “Read more” to see what she has endured).
The cancer is back and the situation is now urgent. Again, treatment for Aunt Pauline will not happen for months in Canada. Having to wait means this aggressive cancer will continue to tunnel under the radiated flap, potentially killing it, and reach into deeper tissues, threatening her life. So far, her CT scans have shown her lymph nodes are clear, and we’d like to keep it that way.
In the U.S., Aunt Pauline can have surgery to stop what’s happening in just a few weeks. She deserves this. Aunt Pauline worked as a registered nurse in downtown Toronto for many years, selflessly helping others. Now we want to help her. Please join our family in helping her get the care she desperately needs now.
The money raised for Aunt Pauline will go toward paying for surgical suites, surgical fees, pathology fees, grafting or flap repair, and specialized wound care for proper healing of her large radiated skin graft.
Please help.
