Save Our Water 2023 We need your help

Hi, Springfield Councillors Andy Kuczynski and Mark Miller here. We are leading the cause to ensure the public's right to clean safe drinking water and it must be protected. We were elected to represent our constituents' concerns but felt that they were not being heard by all of council. We wanted to have public input into the decisions regarding a large business that has potential to contaminate the aquifers where we get our drinking water but lacked the support of the council to pay for a public referendum. We feel very strongly that the public should have a say in any decisions that have the potential for contaminating our precious water supply. We started a public on line referendum to gage the opinions of the people about environmental protection of our drinking water versus big business interests. This is the biggest issue facing our community. We are asking for your financial support to hire the necessary professionals to continue our fight.

Andy and Mark are using donations to fund a phone-in referendum vote, the related advertising costs, and the mounting legal fees needed to promote our cause.

Springfield Council was mostly silent during the Clean Environment Commission so now it is up to us, the public, to ensure our right to clean safe water is clearly defined by residents who could or will be affected by the proposed large mining footprint. We now believe our freshwater supply that all residents rely on could be contaminated by an environmental mishap caused by the Sio Silica mining proposal.

Sio Silica purposes to drill 7,000+ extraction wells 200-400 feet into our groundwater aquifer over the next 24 years removing 42,000,000 tonnes of silica using an unproven drilling method. These aquifers are the source of drinking water for all residents including our farming communities. Our current freshwater supply is currently stretched to its limits. Our aquifers must be protected from contamination through groundwater penetration and inter aquifer conductivity and the collapse of the overburden causing sinkholes.

Funds will be transferred to a local non-profit organization called Springfield Taxpayer Rights Corp: Save-Our-Water has been managing the financial aspects of the project and will ensure that funds will be spent on professional, legal, actuaries, and environmentalists and promote public awareness giving citizens a voice about protection of our water must come first.

This is the most important issue we have ever had to face!
