On March 20th, everybody's lives changed due to this awful virus known as Covid-19. Shops, restaurants & pubs all had to close. Amongst these was your local pub, The Vulcan, Walkden.
Gaz and I have been here for 15 years between us now & we've made many friends and even more wonderful memories. We've strived to give customers what you want in your local community pub, such as live sport, live music, quiz nights, karaoke, little details like phone chargers, loads of tv's, and a cracking new beer garden, all funded by ourselves.
We've helped people out both privately and personally as well as held numerous charity events.
Unfortunately due to the almost impossible restrictions for reopening safely and normally for our customers, which would reduce our customer capacity by 75%, the pub cannot trade as we would lose more money being open at such a reduced capacity than we are currently losing by being closed. This is due to less income, rising costs and more outgoings.
In an ideal world, we would prefer to be able to reopen with minimal or no restrictions, hopefully as we were pre Covid. For example, dancing on tables, singing along to the live music, screaming at the sport, and mixing with ALL your fellow vulcanites, not sitting miles apart from each other, no music, no talking loudly, no fun basically!
So... We're looking for your help to keep The Vulcan going. We're running out of money to cover overheads and bills, we just need a bit of help to tide us over until we can resume trading in a way we feel our valued customers deserve. If we can't procure funds by the end of July, we may have to call it a day on your local, and we're fairly sure if we did have to close permanently, it wouldn't reopen as a pub again. Which, given its long history would be a tragedy.
So please, if you can help us to help to keep The Vulcan going for all our sakes we would be so grateful and appreciative.
We just can't let The Vulcan go under.
Thanks in advance.
