Suzuki Talent Education of the Lubbock Region (STELR) offers group lessons, performances, and other activities to the students of its participating teachers. These programs, together with private lessons and home practice, provide the total Suzuki learning environment. The program is dedicated to bringing quality talent education in music to children of any age or level of development using the Suzuki method.

This amazing program based at Roscoe Wilson Elementary School has recently lost partial funding for the coming year and full funding for the future. This means the program is in jeopardy of not being offered to all students. With your help and support, we can continue to find a way to offer Suzuki to all children, not merely those whose parents can afford to privately fund it. The program currently serves 90 Roscoe students and costs $70,000 per year to run. This means the cost to participate would be a minimum of $722 per year for lessons, $250 for group lessons, as well as the approximately $30 per month cost to rent the instrument. At over $1,300 annually, this cost means some children will lose access to develop their blossoming violin and cello talents. We are asking for $70,000 in order to meet the needs of this coming school year (25/26) and get us started for the 26/27 school year.

Our amazing teachers are so talented and adept at guiding our children to learn to be musicians, and yet they are already paid at about half the rate of a private instructor. We would love to continue working with them and continue operating at our campus, in the manner each student has already become accustomed.

The RW Suzuki community is working hard to find various methods to secure immediate funding for the fall and we need your help! All families who are financially able to pay their own way, will do so. But for the families who are unable, we are establishing this GoFundMe account to use to pay their way until a more permanent funding source can be established.
