Help Us Save St. Margaret’s School — Support Legal Action Now

We need your help to protect a school that has shaped generations of young women with faith, character, and community.

St. Margaret’s School in Tappahannock, Virginia, a beloved all-girls boarding and day school founded in 1921, is at risk of being permanently closed by its parent organization, Church Schools in the Diocese of Virginia (CSDV). Despite strong efforts by alumnae, families, and donors to raise funds and boost enrollment, CSDV has signaled its intention to shut the School down — with a final decision expected July 15, 2025.

In response, a dedicated group of alumnae and supporters has come together to form Save Our St. Margaret’s (SOS) — a nonprofit legal advocacy group formed to fight for the School’s future.

Why We Need Legal Support

Time is short. With the help of attorney Chap Petersen, we are initiating immediate legal action to stop the closure. But legal representation requires significant funding, and we can’t do it without you.

Our Goal

We are seeking to raise $50,000 to fund legal fees, court filings, and advocacy efforts over the coming weeks. Every dollar will go directly toward retaining legal counsel and protecting the rights of students, families, alumnae, and donors who believe in St. Margaret’s.
