The twin silos have not only been a historic piece of Butterfly Farm, but also a monument within the Town of Lincoln, even being featured as the backdrop to the town's website. The silos have not been used since the dairy cows left in the late 1970's and because of that have been deteriorating.
About three years ago a large piece of the left silo fell into the silo, causing weakness in the outside wall. After many meetings with masons, contractors, grant writers etc., we finally found a company from Pennsylvania willing to take on the task of repairing these silos to their original condition. Within this plan, the silo walls will be restored to be structurally sound, and the silos will be cleaned and painted to make them look how they did when first erected in the 1950s. Once this project is complete and the silos are back to their original condition, we are planning on raising the American Flag again to the center of the two silos to bring them back to how they looked about 15 years ago.
We are very excited about this project but will not be able to do it without the support and help from the community. We hope that those in the community cherish these monuments as much as we do and can help in the financial support needed to bring these silos back to their original condition.
