Hello, my name is Tina Rodgers and I’m the co-founder & manager of Magnolia Scents. This store has been my passion for the last six years. I’ve seen it grow from a bare tiny little shop, to what it is today.
For those of you who know me well, you know this is the last thing in the world I wanted to have to do. As much as I would like to be able to do this all on my own, I need to ask for your help to save my shop and the jobs and livelihoods of my three employees.
In March when South Carolina mandated that retail businesses close due to COVID-19, I was hoping that it would be a brief and mild setback. As we are now headed into the third month of the closure, it has become apparent that the impact will be much more severe.
Although small businesses are now allowed to re-open, the current owner of my shop has made the difficult decision to permanently cease operations here in Greenville.
This is where you come in.
I’ve been fortunate enough to have an opportunity to buy-out the current owner and reestablish the business. However, due to current circumstances, many of the resources normally available to local business owners have been suspended or disappeared altogether.
With your generous donations, Magnolia Scents will be re-branded to Greenville Soy Candle Co. - a new and thriving candle shop with the same great products and customer service. We want to show our town of Greenville that we can move past these tough times and keep our doors open to see all of your smiling faces.
Along with our store, we want to create a website to reach our customers that are not so close to us to give them the same experience as being in the store.
I’m hoping to raise $40,000. This money will go straight into re-branding the store, new signage, creating a website and acquiring new inventory.
For the last six years Magnolia Scents has been a fixture in Greenville’s vital downtown shopping district. Your support will allow me to continue to keep this store open, and keep locally-owned companies at the heart of our community.
