We were recently featured on ITV London News, helping us share the extraordinary story of our 105-year-old club and our urgent campaign to resurface our two remaining courts. Tucked away on Green Lane, Worcester Park Tennis Club has been a volunteer-run "Green Heart" for our neighborhood since 1921. Founded by First World War veterans as a place of healing and connection after years of hardship, our club went on to survive the Blitz, hosted historic military matches in 1944, and was fiercely saved from closure by local residents in 1999. We have stood strong for over a century because local people always stood with us. We cannot let that history end in 2026.

What We Do for Worcester Park

Despite being a small club, we work tirelessly to serve our neighborhood:

A Thriving Junior Section: Under Coach Chris Hoskins, our youth squad has exploded from just 1 single child to nearly 100 local kids training, building confidence, and growing up on these courts every single week.

Holiday Tennis Camps: Providing active, fun, and accessible tennis camps for local children during school holidays.

Competitive Adult Play: A fantastic, dedicated Ladies' Team proudly representing our club in the Wilson Surrey League.

A Local Hub: A welcoming space for neighbors and families of all ages to stay active, connected, and healthy.

Held Together by Love and Hard Work

Like so many local sports clubs, we are feeling the squeeze of rising costs. General bills are going up, and everyday maintenance costs are higher than ever.As a small, volunteer-run club with no corporate backing, we always do whatever we can ourselves to keep things going. When the roof of our tennis hut started leaking, one of our members climbed up and repaired it by hand. Last year, our community came together to paint and redecorate the clubhouse ourselves to save money. Unfortunately, professionally resurfacing our final two courts is simply beyond our capabilities. It requires a specialist investment of £35,000 that our regular budget cannot cover. If we cannot resurface them, these vital community courts will eventually become unusable.

A Remarkable Global Response

We aren't just asking for help; our whole community is working to make this happen through open days, local business outreach, and councillor support. But recently, something extraordinary happened when we shared our story online. Our campaign went viral within the international tennis community, capturing over 77,000 views in just a few days! Many strangers left beautiful messages of encouragement, and supporters have donated from across the UK and overseas-including a incredibly generous player from Texas who donated $1,000 simply because he believed grassroots places like ours deserve to survive.

105 years ago, returning WW1 veterans built this club for their community. Today, we are working incredibly hard to make sure it is still here for the next generation. Thank you so much for your generosity, your shares, and your support!
