Cazenovia High School's music department is in danger. After the failed budget vote in May about $800,000 in cuts needed to be made. Among these cuts is the high school music teacher position, which will be cut to half time. In order to secure the future of our program we need to raise $42,000.
For years our music program has been helping kids refine their skills as musicians. Caz has 5 bands, 2 orchestras and 3 choirs. Electives such as Guitar I & II, Music Theory and Advanced Music Theory are offered as well. The lack of a music position will heavily limit the options for students. Both Music Theory classes will not be offered next year and Guitar will have less sections available giving less students the opportunity to take it. Either Jazz Band or Wind Ensemble will be cut as well. The fate of Pep Band and Marching Band are currently unknown. Without your aid students will be given less opportunities in the performing arts.
Recently, Caz's Band, Orchestra and Chorus had the opportunity to compete at Darien Lake. Groups from around New York had to give a performance for judges. All three groups took home first place. We need to protect the outstanding program that has been built over the course of many decades. Your donations will be presented to the board on August 11, 2025 in hopes of restoring the classes that are being cut. If you or someone you know has been affected by Caz's music program, please share this and consider donating. If our goal is not met anything donated will be given to the board in hopes of a higher percentage position. We need $42,000 by August to save our amazing program and every penny counts. Please help save our Music.
