Save Our Karate School

Dear Friends,

During these challenging times, we want to acknowledge and elevate one of our outstanding local and woman owned businesses. Grandmaster Zico Cheng of John Prevatt Martial Arts has been serving the Lutz area for over 15 years. She has positively affected the lives of many families and friends over the years.  She absolutely loves teaching and training martial arts. She has become an integral part of each of her student's, adult client's, and staff's lives, and has supported the community including donations to many in need.  Now she needs our help and support in return!

About the School
Our school teaches the following 6 tenants of Respect, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control, Indomitable Spirit, and Courtesy!

We train for practical self-defense, teaching techniques to stop attacks and counter attack, drilling students so these techniques become reactions, and conditioning students to physically withstand the strains of a hand-to-hand fight.

We train to win every fight in which we must engage but we define winning by our ability to walk away from a fight on our own power.  If our attacker walks away too, fine…if not, that’s unfortunate but necessary.


The School is in Danger
Due to COVID 19, Grandmaster Zico was forced to close the school for 3 months in 2020.  Once the school was allowed to reopen, membership in the after-school program took a huge hit.  Despite this, she has continued paying business rent and bills for the Dojo during the closure without any funds coming in.  Zico has also attempted to negotiate with the Landlord , who has shown no sympathy during these trying times and has actually raised the rent and refused to work with her.  It is with great sadness that she may need to close the school.

Please Help
The money raised will be used to cover operating costs for six months.  This includes adhering to the CDC guidelines for maintaining a clean and safe environment for all students and staff.

Once COVID numbers go down, sign-ups will start to increase, schools will fully re-open and parents will go back to work.  Let's be sure this business will be there for training and the after school program.
