Save Our Historic Club: Urgent Replacement of Heating System

For nearly three centuries, the St Margaretsbury (formerly Stanstead Abbotts) Football and Cricket clubs have been an integral part of the local community. The Football club has over 130 years of football history (founded 1894) and our Cricket club (founded 1737) has an incredible 287 years of history.

Since 1962 the present Clubhouse has been home to generations of Football & Cricket players, forging friendships and memories on these very grounds. But today, this legacy faces its greatest threat: the Club Boiler and heating system has failed irreparably, leaving all sports without hot water or showers – a mandatory requirement for league matches. Without immediate action, it puts the entire clubs viability at risk, potentially ending centuries of sport and tradition.

The consequences are dire. League rules demand functioning hot showers for player welfare, meaning we cannot host home matches until this is resolved. Without games, we lose vital revenue, community engagement, and the heartbeat of our clubs.

We cannot let that happen.
