The day after our one year wedding anniversary, my wife was diagnosed with cancer. We’ve wanted to get kittens for some time, but as part of the mental and emotional recovery process we thought it was time. We found a sweet baby boy we named Franklin, after the location of our marriage vows— Franklin Falls, WA. Needless to say, we fell in love with him instantly and he is one of the sweetest kitties either of us has ever had or interacted with. 

Unfortunately in the last few weeks he has been having digestive issues had several trips to the vet and spent a night in the hospital where they discovered a condition called megacolon. We have been trying as much as we can with medication, special diets, etc. but the only remaining remedy is surgery for a colectomy (to remove the damaged colon).  An estimate we received today for surgery was between $4,000-$7,000, which is...a lot, on top of a lot of other unexpected expenses that our vet wellness plan didn’t cover.
