Save Our Foster Cats from Panleukopenia

Seeking support for medical crisis with foster cats.

We started our cat rescue and foster almost a year ago, and so far have helped 10 cats and kittens with shelter, food and medical support. We have been able to afford all of this on credit cards and loans— which has been manageable up to this point.

Unfortunately, 3 days ago we lost one of our kittens to panleukopenia (feline parvo). This is an extremely deadly virus. We suspect that all of our cats have been exposed. The virus should run its course in 21 days, with the 1st five days being the most serious. We are seeking aid to help us pay for vet appointments, food and supplies to weather this out.

To provide context, our vet bills have been around $800 per cat on average to provide them vaccinations, spay, and neuter, and additional healthcare. And given this recent discovery of parvo infections, we have spent $1,400 on trying to save a kitten’s life— which unfortunately we lost. We have spent additional money creating quarantine zones in our house and buying all the necessary cleaning supplies, and emergency medical supplies. But we desperately need additional support.

We have reached out to charities and applied to grant funding to help us. Most cat rescues in our area are at full capacity, and their spay and neuter services are backed up 6 months out as well. So, anything helps and we are so very grateful to have your support in what ever way you can.

If you would prefer to send us supplies in the mail. Please reach out to us and we can give you a full list of what we need.

Out of the cats we have 3 that need to be vaccinated, two of which are under 3 months old and are the most vulnerable. Another one of them needs a booster shot. We have 3 vet appointments schedule this week, which will cost around $400 for each visit.

We are in the Syracuse, NY area if anyone can provide us with free or reduced vet support.

To help our cats survive this we are in need of the following supplies:
nitrate gloves
disposable booties
disposable medical gowns
disposable litter boxes
pee pads
wooded pellet litter
Rescue brand disinfectant cleaner
bleach
paper towels
paper plates
trash bags
dawn dish soap
sponges
Unflavored pedialyte
cat vitamins
probiotics for cats
cardboard boxes
baby food chicken and gravy
kitten wet food
kitten dry food
adult wet food
adult dry food
And more for supportive care.

Without vaccination there is a 10% survival rate for cats with this virus. But we believe that with enough attention and support we can turn the odds around. Please help us give these cats & kittens a fighting chance. We are so grateful for anything you can do or give.
