Save Our Favorite Chicken Minnie & give her a second chance

Donation protected
This is Minnie, our sweet one-year-old hen, proud mama, and our absolute favorite chicken.

She isn’t just part of the flock; she’s part of our family. Minnie slept in our room for the longest time, even snuggled in our bed, and we often joked that she was our “house chicken.” She loved cuddling up with us on the couch, stretching her neck out long, and happily munching on her favorite treat, watermelon.

Recently, Minnie developed a fast-growing lump on her head. At first, it looked like a cyst or an injury, but it grew quickly. When we rushed her to the vet, they had to put her under anesthesia and open it. Inside, they found the hard, smelly pus chickens get when infections turn severe. The tissue around it looked unusual, so they also performed a biopsy to check for cancer.

Right now, Minnie has an open wound that requires constant care. She needs wound dressing changes every couple of hours to keep it safe and clean. The vet has told us she will likely need multiple wound debridements, then surgical closure, in addition to medications for pain, targeted antibiotics, and follow-up visits.

We were given the heartbreaking option to euthanize her because this kind of care is so intensive and costly. But Minnie is only one year old. She is strong, stubborn, and still full of life. She’s already raised chicks and has so much more life to live. We want to fight for her.

How Funds Will Be Used
Any donation will go directly to Minnie’s veterinary bills and care, including:
    •    Emergency surgery, drainage, and anesthesia: $600
    •    Biopsy and pathology: $200
    •    Repeated wound debridement procedures and surgical closure: $800
    •    Specialized medications, antibiotics, and pain relief: $200
    •    Follow-up visits, wound dressing supplies, and aftercare: $200

Estimated total range: $2,000. We are covering as much as we can but need extra help. We will update with exact costs as bills come in.

How You Can Help
If you are able to donate, every little bit helps us keep Minnie’s fight going. If you cannot donate, sharing her story means just as much. We will post updates here with her biopsy results and progress as she heals.

Thank you for helping us give Minnie the chance to recover and live the happy, cozy life she deserves. ❤️
