Save Our Farm: This Family Needs You

Donation protected
Hi, so my name is Mitzi.

I am a 20-year-old who works at Sonic during the day, and at night I work at and help my father on our small startup farm. Recently, some events within the family have led to my stepmother walking out on me and my father, taking my younger brother with her. My father loved this woman; I mean, he still loves her and wants her back in his life. But the entire time they have been together, I have watched her neglect and use him. He has been the only person tending to the small farm we have, and it has made it difficult to make real progress and milestones. My stepmother, of course, didn't help much in that aspect other than providing the funds. As we all know, money isn't everything, though, and the lack of manual labor led to delays in plans. Things didn't take off the way she wanted them to, and when things began to get hard at her job, she wished to move. She moves every two years on average, and any sane person knows that it takes at least 10 for a farm to start profiting from nothing. Our reluctance to move led to tension, which eventually led her to pack her things and leave. Now, this would be just fine, except her name is still on the house (along with my father's). She is finally trying to sell it. This farm is the only thing that my father really has.

Before meeting my stepmother, my dad was a nobody from New Mexico, trying his best to make ends meet. But everything changed when he met her. He started to want a real family and educate himself. Not college-wise due to some severe trauma, but he wanted to be better. So he changed. And they came to an agreement: my father would stay home and take care of the house, and she would work.

He spent ten years serving and taking care of her. He gave up everything and moved many times to satisfy her. The last straw was the farm we previously had. It had begun to actually produce, and the moment that it did, she decided we move. And he went along with it, giving up any chance at ever truly succeeding in farming and crushing his dream.

When we moved, he tried again. It was slower, though, as not even a year in, she was already not liking her new job. Why do the work if you are going to have it ripped away again?

My father and I would like to remain at the house we are currently in, with the 45+ sheep we currently have, and many chickens. It is the only thing we have, as I was too young to save and he was too busy serving someone who had just thrown us away like trash.

The reason for this GoFundMe is simple. I want to try and help my father refinance the house in the hopes we won't be homeless by May. I know it's a lot of money, but neither of us saw this painful betrayal coming, and we are truly desperate.

Please, may you find it in your heart to help.
