Our home is at risk of foreclosure.

Our homeowner’s insurance is set for non-renewal effective April 15, 2026 unless specific conditions are met. If coverage lapses, our lender may declare the loan in default and pursue remedies available under the mortgage agreement, including potential foreclosure.

The insurance company is requiring costly upgrades within a timeline that cannot reasonably be completed, especially with contractors across Texas already booked due to widespread storm damage. These are not structural repairs. Many were not flagged when the home was originally purchased and insured.

Current estimates to meet these demands range from $135,000 to over $200,000, nearly double what we owe.

If this is not resolved before April 15, we risk losing our home. To prevent that outcome, we are working to satisfy the remaining mortgage balance before the non-renewal takes effect. Even after contributing every dollar of our personal savings, we still need $85,000.

This amount reflects the remaining mortgage balance plus platform and transaction fees. Because processing takes time, we must secure the remaining funds by April 1 in order to allow sufficient time for payoff processing before April 15.

• The home is structurally sound • Required upgrades are estimated at $135,000–$200,000
• We explored every realistic option, including refinancing
• Satisfying the mortgage removes the foreclosure risk
• After dedicating our personal savings, we need $85,000 secured by April 1

My parents bought this land in 2005. My dad passed away suddenly in 2010. After he was gone, my mom carried the responsibility of this place alone. Over time, the financial strain took a toll on her savings and credit, and the stress has affected her health.

A year and a half ago, my daughter and I moved back so that burden would not be hers alone. We repaired failing fences. We rebuilt a chicken coop that had not been used in nearly a decade. We hauled away four 40-yard dumpsters of debris. We have poured time, sweat, and every spare dollar into restoring this land and reducing the mortgage balance.

Our goats and donkeys live here. Our chickens roam here. If we lose this property, the animals will be sold and we have no say as to where they ultimately go. My mother would have to relocate with me wherever I could afford to live. The open fields, trees, and wildlife that define this land would no longer remain intact.

I create my blends on my front porch and at a brass bar my dad brought home when I was a teenager. The mullein, juniper cedar, goldenrod, coreopsis, shepherd’s purse, horehound, burdock root, and many other native plants in our work grow here. Without this land, Hedge Hearth & Heart loses its hedge.

 Transparency & Fund Use

This fundraiser is organized by the owner of Earth Fairy Holistics, a trusted colleague and long-standing personal friend. She is assisting with administrative support to ensure clarity and accountability throughout this process.

All funds raised will be transferred through GoFundMe’s secure system to Misty Dawn Meggs and applied directly toward satisfying the remaining mortgage balance and associated transaction fees.

If more than the stated goal is raised, any additional funds will be applied exclusively to property-related obligations tied to securing and preserving the home and land. This may include insurance compliance requirements, property maintenance necessary to maintain insurability, and essential land improvements that directly protect the residence and prevent future loss.

Every dollar raised will go toward eliminating the outstanding mortgage debt and securing the property so that foreclosure risk tied to insurance non-renewal is permanently removed.

If you can give, thank you.
If you can share, that matters just as much.
