Centro Integral de la Familia has helped women and children in the Quito, Ecuador area for 25 years, offering systemic therapy to help individuals with abusive situations in their home environment. Today, because of sheltering-at-home, families living in overcrowded situations face additional challenges. Though therapy sessions are available thru skype and zoom, people do not have privacy or access to the devices needed in order to access these sessions.
The Center has been closed since mid-March, and hopes to re-open, with precautions, as soon as we are able to do so safely. We are hoping we can open by the first of June. Our goal is to provide help to the large number of people who have experienced isolation, anxiety, and abuse during this time. With your help, the Center will offer the first session free-of-charge, and subsequent sessions on a generous sliding scale.
In order to open the Center, the fixed expenses incurred during the closure will need to be covered. Our $6,000 goal would allow us to open (almost debt-free) and begin operations again knowing that it will take time to return to the level of income generating activity prior to the arrival of Covid-19.
I have been involved as treasurer of this not-for-profit organization for three years. I have seen evidence of the great work of the very skilled therapists, and know that the situation in which the country is currently living is creating an even greater need for these kinds of services.
On behalf of myself, the Board of Directors, and the women and children of Ecuador, thank you for your generous response to this request for financial assistance.
