Save Our Dog: Amputation Fundraiser

Donation protected
I am raising funds for my dog's leg amputation. My dog's parents were rescued from a bad situation in Florida. I got them through a friend who knew an animal rescue group worker. They were a bonded pair, and we got them in December of 2020. Little did we know, the girl dog was pregnant. Exactly a month after their GOTCHA date, this little chihuahua puppy was born. We kept him, and things were going smoothly.

In July of 2021, the puppy fell off the couch and broke the two bones completely in his front leg. He had orthopedic surgery to the tune of almost $10,000. More medical costs followed since the rescue group we got his parents from got us a dog who was not only pregnant but heartworm positive. The rescue group person did not honor her promise to get the mom treated for heartworm. That was another $3,000 on top of what we had already spent on the puppy.

Last weekend, the dog was being his happy self and was running in the house. He slid across the floor and wound up falling down the stairs. He broke the same leg he broke back in 2021. The break is just past the metal plate that is screwed into his leg. The cost to fix the leg is extremely cost-prohibitive, and with two breaks in the same leg, the doctors do not hope for a great outcome. A leg amputation is really the best thing for this 4-year-old dog. At this point, there is absolutely no way we can afford the cost of a surgical amputation.
