HELP LOCAL MUSIC SCHOOL, CREATIVE SOULS STUDIO PAKENHAM, AND THEIR 180 STUDENTS FIND A NEW HOME.
Having recently been given until the end of the financial year to vacate their current premises, Creative Souls is urgently trying to raise funds to appropriately fit out a new home in order to avoid risking the displacement of 180 students and their music lessons. The studio has such a big impact on the lives of the students and teachers who participate in lessons every week and have also just started a small band to expand on this sense of community.
They are desperate not to let down the people who love and support them, especially those who are just starting to develop their passion for music. Creative Souls is one of the only establishments in the Cardinia area that offers a wide range of instrumental lessons all in the same place as well as a high number of performance opportunities at low or no cost to participants. As they pursue numerous ways to raise funds to keep the studio alive, any support from the community has been greatly appreciated.
About the School
Creative Souls Studio Pakenham is a local family-owned music school that services over 180 students, from Cardinia Shire and surrounding areas. The studio is diverse and is home to many neurodivergent students as well as teachers. They are one of the oldest music studios in the area, established in 2007 by Jennifer Kerr, and have always offered lessons at an affordable rate to teach students of all ages and abilities.
The business has always been female-led and in 2019, Mary O’Halloran, took over management of the studio and has been growing it ever since. Mary is the mother of Brodie, who previously learnt and now teaches voice at the studio.
What They Do
Creative Souls Studio teaches voice, guitar, piano, drums and woodwind lessons. With an emphasis on fun, their driving focus to inspire and educate provides the basis for each lesson, which is individually tailored to each student. This customisation allows students to form close bonds with their teacher so they can get the most out of each lesson. Creative Souls aims to offer a range of performance opportunities to those who are interested and hope to instil confidence in everyone who trains with them.
Creative Souls has seen many students achieve their goals over the years and consistently appears at public events to perform and support groups such as the Lakeside Residents Group, Maryknoll Market, Pakenham Eels, Walk to D’Feet MND and Relay for Life.
