Save Otaku Vision Studios

On January 2020, we set our resolutions high.
We planned to open our first business; Otaku Vision Studios!
The first Anime Only, Retail, & Art Gallery Tattoo Studio in the world.
We were filled with passion & excitement as we signed the lease in Little Tokyo, L.A
We would have never expected the sudden turn of events.
Less than 2 weeks later, before we had even finished moving in,
the government began an worldwide emergency shutdown.
The pandemic began & quarantine was now in effect.
We were restricted to leave our homes, or operate our business.
*Our lease ended before we were ever permitted to open to the public
When the county finally lifted the quarantine, & we were expected to begin work & finally open our business, the riots began.
Vandalism & Theft affected hundreds of businesses in our city, as the National guard quickly moved in to block & protect our entire neighborhood.
Once again, we were unable to even access our own property for weeks.
Yet, we remained positive & proactive; applying for every grant, loan, & artist relief fund available to Covid-19 victims for over 2 years.
Yet we were denied one after another, deemed ineligible due to start dates.
Unfortunately, these funds were only available to those who had a business prior to 2020.
In a desperate attempt to maintain resilience, we drained our entire savings to save our business. We paid full rent in downtown Little Tokyo, LA for 8 months without an income, just in order to secure our property and maintain our in operational business.
After 2 yrs, we finally started recover.
We were fully booked, selling merchandise & growing a following.
We were excited to finally overcome our debt and start earning a profit from our initial investment.
Little did we know, that what we had worked so hard to create & build for the past 3 yrs could be taken away in less than 4 hrs.
On Saturday April 30th, 2022; we were burglarized.
The criminal gained access to an electrical closet near our studio, forced entry, & broke in our business through the units wall.
They took everything, including rent which was due the next morning on the 1st.
Over 12,000 in lost merchandise, cash, supplies, & personal belongings.
We have a suspect and a clear image of them on surveillance but no one has been detained or charged.
The security company has admitted their faults and taken accountability, yet the property owners are currently unwilling to take responsibility for their lack of safety & negligence of the unsecured entrance. Our only option is to hire a lawyer, which we do not have the funding or energy for.
We are mentally and financially exhausted.
At this point, our only hope is to gain the support from our loyal customers and community to help us rebuild our shop and persevere through yet another difficult challenge.
If every one of our followers donated $10 we could meet our goal and have enough to recover financially by replacing our lost items, repairing damages, & restocking our store.
We have never asked for help throughout all of our challenges, but if we don’t share our story this time, we may end up losing our business forever.
We hope that you can help donate or at least share this page with someone who can.
We appreciate you all so much & we wouldn’t be here without you!
Thank you so much for your endless kindness & support
