Oldies 1079 in Central NJ is a radio station for the community. Along with playing music from the 60's, 70's and 80's that corporate radio has cast aside, Oldies 1079 is connected with the Central NJ community with local news, discussion of local issues, involvement with local organizations and more.
When Tropical Storm Ida recently hit NJ, Oldies 1079 was hit hard by flooding waters and significant damage to all of the station's equipment.
While back on the air in an extremely limited capacity, Oldies 1079 is working hard to return to the level of community connection and involvement it had established and was relied on for.
The goal of this fundraising effort is to assist Oldies 1079 with their equipment replacement needs. They include....
A Studio Console (Audio Arts), Sage EAS Unit & EAS receiver (both mandated for FCC Compliance), Telos Phone System, 4 EV Microphones, Backup FM Transmitter, Fanfare FM Receiver, Optimod 8100, Comrex Access Unit, 2 'Barix 1000' Audio Encoders, Crown Amplifier, multiple Audio Processors/Limiters, 3 Desktop Computers, 3, Monitors, External Hard Drives, a complete Remote Broadcast Equipment Rack
All of this broadcasting equipment fell victim to up to 6 feet of flood waters and mud which made it impossible to repair.
All monies raised in this effort will go solely to equipment replacement. No personal gains will be experienced by any person involved with Oldies 1079 or this fundraiser.
Radio that actually connects with a community is an increasing rarity. This fundraiser has been launched by a supporter of Oldies 1079 and local radio. It's hoped that you'll believe in the mission of Oldies 1079 and help restore the radio station to a full and active strength.
