Help Us Save Odin
This is one of the hardest things we’ve had to write.
Our sweet dog, Odin, needs surgery to remove his eye. He was born blind in that eye, and we rescued him years ago while our family was stationed overseas during my husband’s military service. From the very beginning, he has been the most loyal, gentle, loving family dog. He grew up alongside our kids and has been such a steady, comforting presence in our home for 10 wonderful years.
Recently, we learned that the eye he was born blind in has developed a tumor. There is a chance it may be cancerous. If we do nothing, the tumor could begin affecting him neurologically, and at that point, we would be faced with the unthinkable decision of putting him down.
The recommended course of action is lab work, diagnostic testing, and surgery to remove the eye. The total cost is estimated to be around $4,000.
We are usually very careful planners and keep savings for emergencies, and we truly don’t like asking for help. But after several unexpected expenses, including a life saving surgery of 6k for our beloved cat Salem, we’re unsure we can come up with the full amount in time. We are hoping to schedule his surgery during my spring break in March so we can properly care for him during recovery.
Odin still has so much life and love in him. Removing the eye would relieve his pain and give him the best chance at many more healthy years with our family.
If you feel led to donate or even just share this, we are deeply grateful. Every little bit helps.
Thank you for loving our boy alongside us.
