URGENT: Canela Needs Emergency Surgery to Survive

Our sweet foster dog Canela, just 2 years old, is fighting for her life right now.

She has a complete intestinal blockage and is undergoing emergency surgery. This is life-threatening and cannot wait.

Canela is truly something special—everyone who meets her falls in love. She is gentle, affectionate, and such a bright light. Seeing her like this is absolutely devastating.

Right now, she is:

Extremely lethargic and weak

Severely dehydrated

Nauseous and vomiting

Unable to eat or drink

Showing signs of possible aspiration, which could quickly turn into pneumonia

Her condition is critical, and her prognosis is guarded. During surgery, she may require a bowel resection (this means a damaged section of her intestine may need to be removed and reconnected), depending on what the surgeon finds.

Emergency Costs Breakdown:

• Initial ER visit: $772

• Surgery estimate: $5,847 – $6,981

• Additional aspiration treatment: $500 – $700

These costs include her initial ER visit, transfer to a second emergency hospital with an ultrasound tech and surgeon available today, surgery, and one day of hospitalization.

Please note that Canela may require additional days of hospitalization and 24/7 care, which would increase the total cost. We will continue to provide updates as we learn more.
