UPDATE: only about $500 left to raise to get Nutty’s tuition paid for. Nutmeg will be going to board and train in September, but we still need to raise about $900 to pay the tuition. He will be staying with a foster until he can go to board and train and I would like to also help her with some of the fostering expenses

Nutmeg needs our help to get out of the shelter with his life. He arrived as a stray in May of 2023 and was named Nutmeg because of his beautiful coloring. Nutmeg, aka Nutty, is sensitive to touch and while he grows increasingly affectionate, he prefers to be pet on his terms. He will very clearly communicate when he is done being pet.

As he spent more time at the shelters, he began to develop some resource guarding behaviors. Since he now lived in the kennels, everything in the kennel and the kennel itself were the only things he had, and he guarded the few things he had, at least he did with people he didn’t know.

Nutty was adopted in May 2024 for 36 hours. While the adopters were told about his resource guarding, they were not prepared and returned him.

Now, Nutmeg finds himself in quarantine because a handler who didn’t know him well decided to groom him.

Nutmeg needs to get out of the shelter before the shelter euthanizes him. Nutty means the world to me and I would adopt him if I didn’t have cats. I am heartbroken and I urgently need to raise funds to get Nutmeg to safety.
