Thank you for taking the time to read our story. We are a mother and daughter, along with our two surviving cats, trying to navigate an extremely difficult chapter after joblessness and a sudden housing crisis turned our lives upside down.
Over the past several months, we have experienced displacement, instability, grief, and the heartbreaking loss of one of our beloved cats, Kringle, who passed away unexpectedly in October. We are still grieving him deeply.
Despite everything, we continue pushing forward day by day, working to remain safe, gain employment, keep our cats cared for, stabilize our situation, and rebuild our lives with dignity.
As our situation has evolved, so have our immediate needs. When this fundraiser was first created, the goal was to raise enough to resolve rent arrears and regain entry into our previous apartment. Unfortunately, that is no longer possible, and our focus has shifted toward rebuilding stability in a new city, settling into our new apartment, and turning it into our home.
One of our biggest current challenges is transportation. My daughter needs reliable transportation to attend her college classes, and I need reliable transportation to attend job interviews and, ultimately, return to work. While we are grateful to have secured housing, the public transportation options in our area are extremely limited. At present, only one bus services this area, and it runs approximately once per hour, making consistent commuting difficult and, at times, unreliable.
Right now, our focus is on rebuilding safely, responsibly, and sustainably: maintaining housing, securing stable employment, continuing my daughter’s education, and caring for our cats while we work toward long-term stability.
Every donation, share, kind message, and prayer has meant more to us than we can fully express. In moments where things have felt overwhelming, the compassion shown by strangers has reminded us that we are not completely alone.
